my everyday life: week 1

I've been following Tracy Benjamin over at Shutterbean for a long time now and, for the past six years, she's been posting pictures of her daily life rounded up in a weekly post. I love reading through these posts and I find it's such a great way to capture the little things that make the day special. I'm going to try it out this year and see what magic I can find!

Making waffles with mama.

Last week of three hour church! Ollie leans against dad's leg as he ponders, "Three hour church, I hardly knew ye."
Danny and I tried out a new recipe for monster cookies with my new cookie scoops that he got me for Christmas! I can't believe I've gone so long with out them. They make scooping cookies a dream. The recipe made a ton so we took some to our new neighbors to say hello on New Year's Eve.

Getting inspiration for a painting I want to do. :)

We celebrated New Year's Eve with my family this year with a dinner made up of yummy appetizers! Hannah and Kip are moving to Seattle so it will be our last one with them for a while! We will miss them so much!

Last night of Christmas magic. :) My dad took these photos of my home and I love them.

Ollie points to me as mama!

Morning playtime in Christmas pajamas.

Put Christmas cards on a binder ring! Love this idea from Nesting with Grace

A little Year-in-Review of 2018.

Ollie, looking so much like my dad at this age.

Gave my boy his first trim!

Love him.

Took some of my art students on a field trip to see the Site Lines Exhibit at the UMFA. We were so lucky to have one of the artists (a professor of mine) come talk to us about her piece! She made a bunch of prints with india ink (that almost look like black and white photographs) and then attached newspaper headlines to them based on what she "saw" in the print. It was incredible!

We also got to learn about book making at the Marriott library Book Arts Program

Ollie with his first kid's meal order at Oak Wood Fire Kitchen! Getting in touch with his Italian heritage. :)

This weekend I got to see The Wizard of Oz with Allie and some friends! Other shows I'd love to see this year: Matilda and Cinderella :)

Tuning into to Top Chef for dad & Ollie time.

Mister loves helping out with laundry. ;)

Another great find from Tracy -- her food journal! I started this yesterday and I already feel like I've been making better eating choices!

Yesterday I spent time studying the new  "Come Follow Me" book while diving into the New Testament. One of my goals this year is to grow closer to my Savior and, in just the hour I spent with this new study book, I've already felt so much light and peace. I'm already looking forward to this next week of study, which I feel like hasn't happened in a while! :)

(The photo is from 1 Thessalonians 5:16-23 ... I especially love verse 21: Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.)

Ollie has definitely made himself at home at our church. :)

It's been a good and calm start to 2019 and I'm excited to see what the rest of the year holds!
