boys, boys, boys.

boys that made my day today:

My adorable baby nephew, Mark. Isn't he beautiful? He makes my day every day that I get to see him. Which is quite often these days. :)

Fernando Torres. Spain's striker and soccer stud. I finally got to watch him play today!

David Villa. This guy scored the beautiful winning goal today in Spain's game against Portugal. I am rooting whole heartedly for Spain. Who are you all rooting for?

let's dance in style, let's dance for a while

May be the best of your todays, be the worst of your tomorrows.

LOVE this video.

and this is why we're BFFs

Texts I've received from Roberto & William in the last few days ...

"'You're cooler than planet Mars.' my nephew. I pass that on to you." - Rob

"Remind me to tell you about MUBAR later" - Rob (sidenote: MUBAR = messed up beyond all reason. The fact that he waited to tell me on Skype is the best part.)

"I showed my mom 'The Epic Journey.' she thought it was very cute and is happy I am hanging out with girls, or something to that effect, my mom says crazy stuff." - Will

"Are we amazing at Skype? I am not entirely sure ... but yea we are." - Rob

"Sing this to the Spider Man song, 'Sarah Maines, Sarah Maines, she is awesome, but has no mane. Can she know, what you're thinking, yes she can, she's bulimic. Look out! It's Sarah Maines!!!!!'" - Will

I miss them.

daddy's girl.

To my dear dad,

Thank you for:

Early morning studies ...
... and showing me a love for learning at a young age.

Taking us to Baskin Robbins every Saturday ...
... it will always be my #1 choice of icecream for this nostalgic reason.

Passing on a love for culture by dragging me to every museum DC had to offer ...
... little did my ten-year-old self know that I would major in the curatorial studies one day and love it.

Dancing with us as the credits rolled at the end of every movie ...
... "Waiting For A Star to Fall" comes to mind. :)

Letting me pick "If You Could Hie to Kolob" for all my turns in scripture study ...
... and with that, sustaining a lifelong pattern of scripture study.

Putting up with three daughters and all our antics ...
... remember when we put ties in your hair and called you Miko from Pocohantas? And had you narrate all of our many princess plays?

Setting an example of the kind of father I want my children to have ...
... heart of gold, quick to forgive, dedicated to his family, easy laugh, love for learning,  and most importantly, a true disciple of our Savior.

Thank you for all that you have done, and all you continue to do for our family!
I love you!

Happy (belated) Father's Day!
xoxoxo,
Sarah

today.

+ I've had this album on repeat.

+ I really want to go here.

+ I've greatly anticipated London. Two and half months couldn't come sooner.

+ And lastly, I've loved this painting by Edward Hopper, Compartment C, Car 293 (1938)

i believe.

I raise my hands, bow my head
I'm finding more and more truth,
In the words written in red
They tell me that there's more to life
Than just what I can see
Oh, I believe.

- Believe, Brooks and Dunn

Beautiful song.
