Easter celebrations started early Saturday morning when Danny totally surprised me with my very own Easter basket! I couldn't believe it -- he got up early to put it all together before I woke up!
That night I surprised Danny with a mini-scavenger hunt involving a date night and ice cream. Danny originally planned to pick up some ice cream for us on his way home from the RSL game. I tried talk him out of it by telling him that I didn't want any (since I had already secretly picked up some), but he didn't buy it -- and really, who would buy that? (Next to Michelle Tanner, I am the Ice Cream Queen.) So this is what we ended up with ...
Four pints of Ben & Jerry's! I think we're stocked for the summer!
We then made Martha Stewart's Carrot Cake Cupcakes with cream cheese frosting for my family's Sunday Easter dinner! A super easy recipe with a simple list of ingredients! Just add a basic cream cheese frosting and voila! the perfect Carrot Cake Cupcake! (Note: this recipe is for mini-cupcakes, but it works for regular sized cupcakes too!)
On Sunday morning we went to church with Danny's family. It was wonderful to take some time to contemplate the true meaning of Easter - celebrating the Resurrection of our Savior! My heart bursts with joy and awe when I think of what the Savior accomplished! Knowing that Christ conquered death and lives again gives me the greatest hope and comfort. He is risen!
After church, we got to join in on Danny's family's Easter egg hunt tradition! I don't think I had run around a house, scrambling for plastic eggs, since I was a kid with my sisters! It was so much fun! We got candy, quarters, and even dollar bills! (Danny was lucky enough to win the jackpot prize - $50!)
Afterwards we had a lovely birthday lunch for Danny's sister, Jamie! Happy birthday, new sister of mine! And of course, watching a bit of the Masters was thrown in there too ... (I pretty much know everything about Bubba now, don't even worry about it.)
Later, we went down to my family's house for dinner. Danny and I prepared this special Easter basket for Mark and we couldn't wait to give it to him!
It was Mark's first experience with Play-doh. He wasn't sure what to make of it at first ...
But then he totally got into it! (He even took some of his Play-doh to the dinner table with him ... See if you can spot it!) At dinner, he wanted to serve up the fruit - look at him go!
Of course we had to get some group shots ... which my mom still has, but here's one of me and Danny!
I absolutely loved Easter this year! We had so much fun spending time with both of our families! One thing's for sure -- we are so very blessed! I hope each of you had a spectacular Easter holiday as well! What kinds of traditions do you have?
