kooks, i think i love you.

Due to the fact that the Kooks and The Third Man are really the only musicians I've listened to on this trip, I figured they needed a post. I randomly happened upon the Kooks a few weeks ago while browsing an article about Luke Pritchard. I decided to check out his band and have been listening to them nonstop since.

The Kooks are an indie rock band from Brighton, UK. The band consists of: Luke Pritchard (vocals, guitar), Hugh Harris (guitar), Paul Garred (drums), and Peter Denton (bass), who replaced Max Rafferty (whose departure I'm still sad about). I'm obviously super into them, and I think it's because they've got a fantastic and unique sound. (Not to mention, i'm pretty in love with their British accent and sense of fashion, as well.)

The Kooks have two records out (not counting singles and live albums) - Inside In/Inside Out and their lastest album, Konk. Of Konk, Luke says, "The greatest records in the world can be put on in any situation: you can put them on at a party and they're going to sound great, you could put them on in a club and they're going to sound great, you could put them on on your headphones and listen in bed. That's when you get a great album, and that's how I like to think of this album." Hugh adds, "Music should make you happy. It should change you in some way. That's why our fans are so crazy and committed. There's that connection."

After leaving The Kooks, Max Rafferty and some other old friends, formed a band called The Third Man. The band formed within the past year, unfortunately, does not have an album out yet, but they do have some tracks uploaded on their YouTube and Facebook sites.
