over the pioneer day weekend holiday danny, colby, and i took a roadtrip to california! i was so excited, not only for the fun itinerary we had planned, but to (once again) see ahlin! especially over the anniversary of our friendship. yes, we have an anniversary. two years baby!
we got in thursday evening and had a BBQ with ahlin's family. i love her family. they are hilarious. i'm sad i didn't get any pictures for the blog -- but know that we had a blast eating steak, playing bananagrams, and listening to colby tell jokes to aunt amy. after dinner we hit up yogurtland for some fro-yo. overall, a great first night!
saturday morning we drove down to huntington beach! (i can finally check that off my list ... ) it was beautiful. got in some much needed sunbathing & wave riding time.
quick story: colby picked up aunt amy's rollerblades, strapped them on, and went flying down the drive way. i'm still laughing about it.
that evening we drove up to LA for the dodgers/nationals game!
quick story: so, bill nye the science guy happened to be sitting a few seats down from us. this (quite plastered) guy, pictured waving on the left, told us if we wanted a picture of bill nye, he would go over and tell bill to look over at us. bill looked over and bill waved. it was a watershed moment for me. thanks to ahlin, we got an up close picture of bill with his family. he, like me, was representing the nats among a sea of dodgers fans. thanks for shaping my childhood, bill nye. p.s. science rules.
