#ldsconf

this weekend, my church held it's semi-annual general conference. "what is this 'general conference' you mormon bloggers speak of" you ask? let me tell you!

twice a year, the leadership of our church gets together to speak to its members and anyone else who is interested in hearing the messages of the restored gospel. they share basic principles, inspired teachings and most importantly, their testimonies of our Savior, Jesus Christ. it's always an enlightening and uplifting experience. i love my church leaders and always look forward to this time of year! each conference consists of four sessions held in salt lake city and broadcasted to the world

yesterday morning, jen, leslie, katie, ahlin and i (as well as katie's brother's apartment) kicked off conference weekend by having a yummy breakfast (courtesy of the boys) and watching the first session.

afterwards, ahlin and i decided to take advantage of the beautiful 75 degree weather and hike to the y! it was tough, but i love pushing myself to do hard things. after 11 turns of (somewhat breathless) steep hiking, we reached the top! there, ahlin pulled out her iphone, and we listening to the second session of conference! the choir opened with the hymn, "high on a mountain top" - you can imagine how excited this made us.

we came back, invited some girl friends over, and had a girl's night! we had boxes of pizza, quarts of golden spoon frozen yogurt, soda, chips and candy. it was fun meeting new people, catching up with old friends, playing with leah's bunny and ending the night with "sabrina".

today i watched the second two sessions curled up on my couch in my pjs! they were just as wonderful as the two held yesterday. it never ceases to amaze me how inspired the talks are. i can't count how many times i listened to a speaker and thought, wow! (insert speaker's name here) knows what's up! i'm pretty sure they wrote this talk for me. my questions were answered and i got the loving encouragement that i needed. i'm so grateful for conference!

p.s. in reference to the title of this post, i couldn't believe #ldsconf was one of the top trends on twitter! how cool!

pretty soon, when you're all seasoned and ready to run 13.1 miles, the Y-hike will be a breeze. ha ha. but seriously, glad you loved conference so much. it was great, wasn't it? also - leah got a bunny after all?! oh and yes, i need to still get the training schedule to you. i will do that today! xo.
